Poltárska energetická, s. r. o. (ltd.) took over the heating system in the Town of Poltár on 01 July 2010. On the basis of a tender and subsequent approval by the Town Council, it took over the town´s property related to heat generation and distribution.
The aim of cooperation between the Town of Poltár and the company Poltárska energetická, s. r. o. (ltd.) is to ensure complex modernisation of the heating system within the town. The first stage which sought to completely replace the ineffective heat distribution system was implemented in the period 2010– 2011.
During the next stage implemented in the period 2012–2013, home compact heat exchangers were installed, which significantly increased the comfort of users and the quality of heat supply.
In the last stage executed at the turn of 2013 and 2014, the modernisation of the entire distribution system came to its final, having replaced the machine room technology of the existing boiler plant, and the gas boiler plant was subsequently extended by a new energy source using wood biomass as fuel. This step meant the completion of the complex restoration of the entire system that meets the most stringent criteria related to the efficiency and quality of heat supply. Thanks to fuel diversification, the fuel costs were stabilised, and there was a shift from more expensive natural gas to cheaper biomass.
