Activities of project SINBIO will take place in each part of energetic chain – starting with biomass, through its processing, until heat production intended for final consumer. Project SINBIO will be realized in 4 regions of central and eastern Slovakia within the cooperation of 6 slovakian and 3 norwegian project partners. The main result of the project will be new central boiler for biomass in Poltár, Tlmače and Trebišov with total power 12,5 MW, which will replace the old systems of central heating supplied by coal and gas. Project will also spread and improve logistic activities linked with the processing of biomass and also with research regarding to find a new suitable crop to grow on idle field in eastern Slovakia. The amount of the grant is 4 996 467 EUR. Implementation of the project will create almost 70 temporary jobs at the supplier of construction work and 25 permanent green job vacancies.
Ambition of the project is to be as an example of excellent bilateral cooperation with Norway and also as an example of applying systematic approach to bioenergy sector in Slovakia.
Project SINBIO will cause longl-term decrease of environmental pollution by greenhouse gasses and will create several new green job vacancies. By the change of fuel base will project help local economics in regions like Detva, Levice, Poltár and Trebišov yearly with amount almost 2 mil. EUR.
In a city Trebišov, there will be a new boiler for biomass. This will secure biomass production and processing and heating distribution system will be optimized. New, high efficiency boiler will be connected to existing heating distribution system in a city.
Grounds where project will take place is 4,2 ha large and this fact brings more possibilities for realization. Trebišovská energetická, s.r.o. is looking for possibilities how to use another progressive technologies at this area, but of course focusing on renewable sources near to city Trebišov. One of the norwegian partners, consulting company International Development Norway, will recommend a suitable technology for the project.
In a future, there will be a reconstruction of existing distribution system starting from the area of the gas boilers until enters into individual delivery points (note: this reconstruction is not a part of the project).
Part of the project SINBIO, in the eastern part of Slovakia, will be also a production and processing of wood chips and straw as a fuel base for new biomass boiler. Within final steps of the project will be realized early sowing of energetic crop on unused agricultural field near Trebišov. Type of the crop will be chosen according to the results of norwegian partners´s research – research institute Norsk institutt for skog og landskap.
In a city Hriňová, there will be this year thanks to the project fleet expansion and reconstruction of logistic centre of division Biofuels. This division is currently one of the biggest processors of wood chips in Slovakia. As the volume of processed biomass is growing and activities are spreading to the eastern Slovakia, the additional machine capacity needs to be increased. Also integrated IT system is a must to ensure timely and quality delivery of biomass for buyers.
Reconstructed logistic centre will serve for organizing conferences and trainings. Apart from this, another unused storage space in a building will be in a future rebuilt to an interactive educational centre for children and youth. Main attraction of this centre will be technology Science on Sphere (http://sos.noaa.gov/), which will educate little visitors about our planet Earth, its natural sources and specifically about renewable energy sources.
Realization of the project SINBIO is supported by Norwegian funds and state budget of Slovak republic within the programe Green Innovations in Industry. The prove about the sigificancy of the project is the fact, that it is the biggest project supported by Norwegian funds in Slovak republic.
